NCP’s second production of 1960 was Luigi Pirandello’s classic Six Characters in Search of an Author which ran at the Kenya National Theatre from 27 May to 4 June.  The play was produced by Robert Beaumont following on his success with The Diary of Anne Frank earlier in the year.

The most innovative aspect of this second production was NCP’s decision to organise a competition among the local critics for the best review of the play on the opening night.  An independent panel of three judges adjudicated on the written critiques which were not to exceed 500 words!

Overall, the play received rave reviews by the critics in the local papers and there were no fewer than seven curtain calls on opening night!
